Things You Should Know About SAC Health System

Our name is Social Action Community Health System, and our mission to improve the health of San Bernardino community families is central to every decision we make. Our mission has driven us to provide affordable healthcare services for 40+ years.

We currently serve more than 15,000 patients and provide more than 50,000 patient visits each year.

Our new state-of-the-art facility, the San Bernardino Campus, a partnership with Loma Linda University Health opened in 2016. The new facility in addition to the Norton and Frazee clinics allow us to accommodate up to 200,000 patient visits each year and to introduce a health professions career pipeline program called Gateway College.

SACHS began humbly, as a part-time volunteer effort of Loma Linda University health professions faculty and students. They recognized a community need for increased access to healthcare services and began meeting that need in makeshift clinics around the city. In 1995, the team of volunteers partnered with the Loma Linda University Medical Center and the Department of Defense to turn the Norton Air Force Base medical building into a full-service, 42,300 sq ft community clinic.

Our Community Resource Center provides for the comprehensive basic needs of struggling families by offering food, case management, educational opportunities, and a broad network of community services.

In 2015, SACHS became designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This distinction will support much-needed growth in staff and programming.

SACHS is also designated by the Health Resources Services Administration as a "Teaching Health Clinic, Graduate Medical Education" program. Our medical resident program is the nation's most robust in a FQHC setting, and we are excited about further growth opportunities.

Give BIG 2018 will fund the employee-driven Mission Possible program.  Mission Possible addresses the needs of the community through the granting of small financial awards to address a critical need in the community.  Mission Possible has funded a street medicine program--taking much needed health care to homeless individuals in San Bernardino.  Understanding the need for a bus bench across the street from the new SACHS San Bernardino Center, Mission Possible will pay for this necessity.
