The Red Rocks Music Festival was founded in 2002 with the vision of growing the festival into a major cultural event in Arizona. The mission of the festival is "to educate, engage and challenge audiences through a collaboration of leading Arizona artists and world acclaimed musicians". The festival explored edgy concert programming in various venues. Among festival program highlights are: Intercultural Journeys with Native American Flutist, R. Carlos Nakai, Flamenco at Sunset, Music under Totalitarian Regime, for which the festival received a grant from National Endowment for the Arts, and Annelies, an Oratorio based on Anne Frank diary with Grammy nominated soprano Arianna Zukerman, for which the festival is receiving a grant from the NEA. Most of the artists in the proposed grant request appear regularly at the festival.
The festival presents yearly a Winter Chamber Music Institute at GCC in which world acclaimed faculty provide coaching to advance students from Arizona and around the globe. The closing of the Institute program culminates in student and faculty free of charge performances.Master classes and workshops enable young musicians to learn skills from master musicians. The festival provides outreach educational music programs that inspire students to appreciate and continue their interest in the arts.
Your donation to the Festival will help us continue to present the finest musicians and to make our performances available, accessible, and affordable to everyone.
Without help from people such as you, we could not maintain our high artistic and professional standards and continue to bring the world's most accomplished musicians to Arizona.
