Making our region’s robust and diverse history come alive for current and future generations.

The mission of the Polk County Historical Society is to collect, preserve, promote, and communicate the history of Polk County, Minnesota. We serve our Polk County communities through engaging exhibits, events, archival research, and special programming for visitors of all ages.

The flagship of the Polk County Historical Society is our main museum building in Crookston, which also features 11 other buildings including agricultural displays, a log cabin, the beautiful Hafslo prairie church, a blacksmith shop, a country school house, and a renovated caboose.

We also curate Crookston’s own Carnegie Library, one of just 1,500 left in the United States. The Carnegie building has recently hosted three Minnesota Historical Society traveling exhibits, concerts, lectures, and art events. It is currently undergoing renovation to serve as a county archive and community event center for group receptions.

Through these continued cultural events and community activities, we strive to make our region’s robust and diverse history come alive for current and future generations. Join us!
