Performance Edge Inc

Founded in 2002, Performance Edge is an established nonprofit organization.  It plays the unique role of providing the place for the integration of talent and training between the participants of Performance Edge and the school, church, and arts organization programs they come from and return to. This interchange of talent and training enhances not only individual performers and their respective programs, but also the cultural life of the community by encouraging students to take the training and skills to their high school, church, and community arts programs. Through Performance Edge opportunities, we are a completely complementary part of the performing arts tapestry of vocal training and performance opportunities in our community.

Performance Edge programming includes workshops, an intensive summer camp, and the Capital Ambassadors performing ensemble. The Summer Showcase music camp is our largest project.  It is an auditioned, intensive, week-long music camp, held in June each summer and is comprised of concentrated  essions on vocal technique with the musical director, choreography styles with guest choreographers, staging and production, auditioning techniques, and separate judged auditions for spotlight solos. The Summer Showcase Music Camp builds and shapes lifelong skills, promoting the development of leadership abilities and encouraging participants to reach higher and expand their potential. Through participation in this camp, students learn first-hand the values of interpersonal respect, teamwork, self-discipline, goal setting, perseverance, and personal commitment.

With every program component – clinicians, choreographers, and instructors who contribute to various programs – our intent is to offer the best in musical and performance training at a modest cost.  Performance Edge offers scholarships based strictly on financial need for all of our programs.  Our students are musically talented individuals of any race or nationality enrolled in grades six through college in Wake County and surrounding counties. 

Performance Edge is pleased and proud to have students who have been accepted to stellar arts college programs across the nation.  In addition, our graduates have gone on to become music teachers, performers, composers, and choreographers.  Some of our former long-time participants and camp counselors are currently performing ofessionally in Broadway shows and tours.
