Out in the Open connects rural LGBTQ+ people to build community, visibility, knowledge and power. Rural LGBTQ+ people have a critical role to play in our collective liberation. OITO is dedicated to our values of anti-racism, embracing intersections, making connections, and lifting up rural experiences, while celebrating resistance and queer joy along the way.

We Are Everywhere, 
but we do not all have access to healthcare, housing, jobs, + community.

• The HEART Program  (Health Equity & Access for Rural TLGBQ+) addresses common healthcare barriers faced by Transgender, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Queer+ people in Vermont by putting trained peer support volunteers alongside community members in a variety of healthcare settings.
• Out in the Open Summit for Rural & Small Town LGBTQ+ Folks is a gathering place to connect with LGBTQ+ and rural community & traditions, build relationships & trust, celebrate & grieve together, and create a roadmap to move us closer to our collectively liberated and joyful futures.
• Out in the Open Radio Hour is an in-house produced show by and featuring rural LGBTQ+ people talking about our lives, sharing our art & music, learning together, and of course building our community, visibility, knowledge, and power!
