The Neighborly Meals on Wheels program serves more than 1,000 hot meals to homebound seniors in Pinellas Monday thru Friday. We were the first federally funded Meals on Wheels program in the nation. More than 600 volunteers help deliver not only nutritional meals but a friendly smile to our homebound elderly. Without this meal, many of our seniors would end up in a nursing home. We can feed a homebound senior for approximately $1,700 a year. It cost approximately $50,000 to $60,000 to place someone in a nursing home. We need to keep our seniors at home, where they want to be.

The Neighborly Adult Day Care program provides a place for those who cannot stay home alone. Caregivers can remain employed or have much needed respite.

Our Senior Dining program offers a place for seniors who are still able to get out and enjoy the company of others. We have 7 sites throughout Pinellas County where they can enjoy socialization, entertainment, informational speakers, and a hot nutritious meal.

Transportation is vital to our seniors. Many have no way to get to doctor appointments. The Neighborly Transportation program takes seniors shopping, to medical appointments, our Adult Day Care Centers, and Senior Dining sites.
