NAMI Georgia (National Alliance on Mental Illness) works to advocate, educate, support, and create awareness on the issues of mental health so that all individuals get the services they need and deserve. We provide many initiatives that offer services and support to program participants across Georgia through our 23-member affiliate network.
- Support: One of NAMI Georgia’s core program areas is to provide peer-led support to individuals with mental health disorders and to their loved ones. Our programs include groups for individuals, families, Veterans, and peer support.
- Education: NAMI Georgia offers a large suite of public education, community awareness, and outreach activities and programs. These initiatives are designed to raise awareness of mental health and its effects on individuals and communities, to remove stigma, and to educate the public about how they can come together on local and state levels to improve access to treatment. NAMI Georgia provides support to existing affiliates and nurtures the development of new affiliates in communities across the state. NAMI also provides speakers on request.
- Advocacy: NAMI Georgia advocates for non-discriminatory access to quality healthcare, housing, education, and employment for people with mental illness. We also advocate at the county, state, and national levels for increased and diversified funding resources that support, improve, and increase access to treatment options for individuals with a mental illness. NAMI Georgia offers several programs that help improve access to resources and system navigation for individuals, families, and communities.
