$30,000 Goal

Connecting people to nature and communities by designing, constructing, and maintaining trails in the South Siskiyou County area

The Mount Shasta Trail Association (MSTA) is a 100% volunteer organization and is committed to dedicating Giving Tuesday donations to the 80+ mile trail network across South Siskiyou County.

Whether you are hiking, jogging, mountain biking, or horse riding the trails in the Mount Shasta area, you are able to experience nature at its finest.

There's nothing more exhilarating than riding down a mountain trail with the wind in your face surrounded by a lush, healthy forest. Or the sense of accomplishment and wonder when you reach the top of a ridge and are greeted by breathtaking views.

MSTA makes these experiences available to everyone regardless if you are a seasoned outdoors person or this is your first time biking, hiking, or riding; the Association ensures the trails it designs, builds, and maintains are safe and accessible.

The Dedication of Our Volunteers Is Second to None

"I ride these trails all the time, but the real reason I like to build and maintain these trails is that I’m doing it for my grandson, my friends, and my neighbors who will be using them long after I’m gone."

Steve Diaz, frequent trail rider & MSTA volunteer

"Volunteering is saying with one’s actions, 'this is valuable to me.' Giving back to my community is fun, productive and satisfying, and I get to meet, learn, and work with fine people."

John McDermott, MSTA volunteer

"I recognized as soon as I heard about the new trail network that by helping build these trails, it is the best way to learn of them before I start enjoying them myself -- and they make Mount Shasta a better place to live and visit."

Jim Wrona, MSTA volunteer & trail enthusiast

"I believe that volunteering in my own community is the best way to improve our complex and troubled world. So, when the Gateway Trail Expansion got underway, and I became president of the Mount Shasta Trail Association, I decided to go 'all in.'

Even though I personally love being on the trails, meeting people as they bike, hike, ride, and run in increasing numbers gives me even greater satisfaction. Now more and more kids are leaving their phones at home to ride bikes on our new trails.

With your help, we’ll be well on our way to completing the 46 miles of Gateway II. Please join our effort!" -John Harch, MSTA President
