At the time of Jamie MoCrazy’s crash as a world-renowned competitive freestyle skier, Jamie’s sister Jeanee started the hashtag #MoCrazyStrong, which connected supporters globally and developed into the creation of the MoCrazy Strong Foundation.

MoCrazy Strong Foundation – founded by the MoCrazy family – is a nonprofit organization educating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) survivors and family caregivers on ways to understand how to build a productive life worth living after brain injury. MoCrazy Strong grew from Jamie’s TBI and the education her mom, Grace, had as she became an involved family caregiver. The Foundation provides a platform to share their experiences–the good and the bad–in the hope of bringing comfort and strength to those on the road to recovery.

According to a study by Finkelstein and colleagues, the cost to society from Traumatic Brain Injury is 76.5 billion dollars annually. Traumatic Brain Injury is an acquired brain injury, and acquired brain injury is the second most prevalent disability in the U.S., estimated at 13.5 million Americans. Many of these permanent disabilities could have been avoided with a change in the acute care of the injury.

MOCRAZY STRONG FOUNDATION  earned its official 501c3 tax exemption from the Internal Revenue Services on August 30, 2022. Their mission statement:

“MOCRAZY STRONG FOUNDATION. was formed for the charitable and educational purpose of serving persons surviving Brain Injury and their family caregivers. They raise awareness of Brain Injuries and teach methods for complimentary mind-body medicine to create whole-body recoveries.”

Jamie's life was flipped upside down. Following years of rehab, Jamie’s miraculous recovery helped revolutionize Traumatic Brain Injury treatment at Vancouver General Hospital and charted Jamie on a course to help others with brain injury challenges. #MoCrazyStrong tells the vital story of family involvement, losing and regaining your identity, and working through the challenges that traumatic brain injuries present on the path to recovery.

#MoCrazyStrong World Premiere was at the Big Sky International Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, MT, on February 25, 2023. Following its premiere, the film won an award. Subsequently, it was screened at Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. #MoCrazyStrong has been screened at 12 Film Festivals at the Live PC Give PC, not including the Capital Hill screening. #MoCrazystrong will continue to be featured at festivals worldwide throughout 2023. A series of private and public screenings will take place around North America to advance the message and reach of the film.

MoCrazy Strong Foundation is changing policies and protocols for recovery processes. MoCrazy Strong Foundation uses its public speaking engagements and attendance at film festivals to give a voice to brain injury recovery. Through these engagements, the Foundation brings to the forefront the need for state and federal funding as well as opportunities for recovery.
