The mission of the Literacy Council of St. Petersburg is to provide free  tutoring for adults who want to improve their literacy skills.

When a person can't read, it affects every aspect of their life.  Imagine not being able to read a job application or understand a prescription bottle. Imagine not being able to read road signs or a bus map. Imagine not being able to help your child with their homework. These are the real life struggles for one in 10 adults in Pinellas County.

At the Literacy Council of St. Petersburg, we believe that teaching adults to read changes lives forever. We train volunteer literacy tutors and pair them with adults who want to improve their reading and writing skills.

We're asking for your support in three primary ways:

1) Donations - your donations help us provide educational materials and support for our adult students and volunteer tutors.

2) Volunteer - you can help! Become a volunteer literacy tutor. If you can read, you can teach someone to read. We will train you.

3) Refer a student - do you know an adult who could use some help improving their literacy skills? Please tell them about LCSP's free, one-on-one tutoring.
