Who We Are:

La Casita Center is a Latinx-led, feminist led non-profit in Louisville, KY accompanying the Latinx community. Our mission is to empower individuals and families in this community, providing a foundation for systemic change with long-term effects.

La Casita Center was founded in 2005 when a small group of concerned women, which included social workers, teachers, mothers, and members of religious communities, recognized a growing need for community building and access to services, education, and support in the Latinx community. La Casita Center provides support and empowerment based on the needs of the community, using a ground-up strategy to help the Latinx community access services and overcome barriers.

Our vision embraces the accompaniment model, an evidence based practice focused on empowering individuals to make changes in their own lives. La Casita Center uses accompaniment to address systemic issues through community care that is trauma informed and rooted in equity and accessibility.  We take a holistic approach that works for the whole person or family to ensure all needs are met.

What We Do:

La Casita Center offers the following programming to accompany our community.

  • Mental Health: Culturally responsive accompaniment in Spanish
  • Health Empowerment: Accurate health information and accompaniment in accessible language
  • Accompaniment and Advocacy: Cultural connection and support for the community
  • Legal Clinic: Connection to legal support
  • Hospitality and Solidarity: Culturally informed connection to resources
  • Child Enrichment: Bilingual, trauma-informed accompaniment for children
