JCAHPO’s mission is to enhance the quality and availability of ophthalmic patient care by promoting the value of qualified allied health personnel and by providing certification and education.

   “It was September 11th. With all airports closed and a patient waiting desperately for donor tissue;..I was keeping in constant contact with the eye foundation in Honolulu. For strict identification purposes, I was asked for my name and title – certification was critical. We finally got clearance to fly the donor tissue from the U.S. on a medical flight ambulance to Kauai, while the rest of the nation would wait another two days to fly again.” D. Levine, COT

Since 1991, the JCAHPO Education & Research Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 in 670 scholarships to students in ophthalmic training programs, and for continuing education and certification. In 2011 alone, the Foundation awarded 58 scholarships to students in training programs, totaling $17,780. As you are aware, receiving a scholarship lightens the financial pressures of the expense of a quality education. Your contribution to the Foundation allows us to sustain our important mission.

The health care field is continuously changing, and JCAHPO must also continue to transform to better serve certificants and the public. We are proud of the accomplishments of JCAHPO and its Foundation. Through innovations such as our monthly regional educational programs, internet webinars, & online continuing education website, we are able to provide access to learning to more students.

Your Foundation support also underwrites new technology developments for certification examinations, and offers program directors and students assistance with purchasing textbooks and other educational materials through our online bookstore.
