Jessie and Romie Griffin Foundation

The Jessie and Romie Griffin Foundation bear the name of our parents who were sharp-crop farmers with ten children.  They completed the highest level of education available to them, which was the 8th grade, in a one-room church school house with multiple grades and one teacher.  Our parent's lives demonstrated strong work ethics and determination, with a message to their children that meager material resources and limited education is not an excuse to have no hope.  Their passion for education was based on a belief that an education is the key to open "all" doors of opportunity to a better life.

.  We help those students who have nowhere else to turn.   We aim for students who may not be identified by counselors and teachers as achievers with potential to go to college.   These young adults are our “Star” students.  They are students who have a dream… and are in need of a helping hand.   Our Foundation does not just stop with giving the scholarships but we mentor people as they go through the educational process.
