Sadly, there are animals in the community which have been discarded, abandoned or lost. People created the problem of community/feral (homeless) cats—and people can be the solution! Founded in 2005, Islands Feral Cat Project IFCP) is a non-profit organization that helps community/feral cats in Savannah, Georgia.
The main focus of the IFCP is arranging for the Spay/Neuter/Vaccination/Return (TNVR) of community cats-- which in turn helps keep the colonies from multiplying. IFCP also assists with medical care for sick or injured community/feral cats. If kittens are found during the TNVR process, we provide medical care for them and work in conjunction with local rescues to find them forever homes.
As an organization we can’t personally TNVR all the cats in the Savannah Area, so we also educate the community in the methods of TNVR to widen our net of influence.
Islands Feral Cat Project gives advice and lessons on trapping. We also loan traps to individuals who are doing TNVR in their neighborhood. If individuals need financial assistance, IFCP will cover the cost of the spay/neuter.
IFCP gives advice to people on topics related to kittens, adoption, socializing feral kittens, colony care and more. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to so they don’t feel as though they are in this alone.
Since our founding in 2005, Islands Feral Cat Project has TNVR’d over 7,500! During the 2022 year:
