Rancho Del Sueño

     Our facility, Rancho Del Sueño is a sanctuary to both large & small rescued & abandoned animals & a preservation center for an extremely rare equine breed called the Colonial Spanish Wilbur-Cruce Mission Horse. We are home to over 70 animals & are in desparate need of hay or financial assistance.

 

These Important Horses

     Rancho Del Sueño is the only facility actively dedicated to the preservation of this rare breed. These horses are pure descendants of those that were brought over from Spain in the 16th century to help build the New World. They have been geneticaly isolated from the development of today’s modern sport horses & have retained the personality traits vital for living in the close contact with humans that was required of them back in the years of the great horse cultures.

 

How These Horses Help People

      Along with preserving the integrity of this breed, Heritage Discovery Center has also been focusing on the development & implementation of various psychotherapy & experiential education programs which utilize the unique characteristics of the breed for facilitating interactive workshops that trigger psychological & spiritual healing as well as enhanced learning. Because of their innate desire to be deeply connected with humans, these horses are highly suitable for this type of work & have had a profound impact on the lives of the people they have worked with.

     These horses are providing life-altering therapy to people with conditions such as:

• Autism
• PTSD
• Depression
• OCD
• Obesity
• Trauma

 

     These horses are helping our Veterans & their families deal with a broad range of mental & physical health issues resulting from deployment in our "Horses & Heroes" program.

 

     We have also developed a specific progrm which caters to disadvantaged & troubled youth, providing them with an experiental education that gets them outside the classroom so they may learn & apply life skills & properly understand the effects of their behavior on others.
