Henderson Seniors Auxiliary

This year will make our 19th year of service to the seniors in our community. The Henderson Seniors Auxiliary provides our local seniors with the means to improve their quality of life. We strive to do this in many ways.

Research supports the importance of social interaction for older adults. Staying socially active and maintaining interpersonal relationships can help maintain good physical and emotional health and even improve cognitive function, helping to ward off dementia. We sponsor social activities and entertainment at the Centers in Henderson, as well as monthly birthday celebrations. While fun for the participants, these activities are keeping Henderson seniors fit in multiple ways.

We want to provide seniors independence. For some the choice comes down to food or other necessities. We strive to make the food dollar of our seniors go further with our Mini-Mart. Our volunteer shoppers clip coupons and shop the sales to bring discounted goods to our customers. The savings are passed on and the items are sold at cost to the seniors.

For seniors that are homebound, our President runs the “Crafty Crew” workshop which makes craft items for the seniors that receive Meal on Wheels. These small items make a big difference in a seniors' life & helps make their day brighter.
