Helping Hands is a story of how an idea of generosity became an amazing movement which now helps whole communities. In 1987, five local churches formed a partnership to battle the effects of poverty and hunger in Paulding County, Georgia. From those humble beginnings, Helping Hands has grown into a dynamic alliance of churches, civic groups, generous individuals, and our business partners who assist our no to low-income neighbors with specific basic needs. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing services to thousands of Paulding County residents over the past 32 years and we will continue to unite our community by actively supporting their many needs.

We help those in need in Paulding County with nutritional assistance by providing fresh dairy, deli, fruits, vegetables, meats, bread, canned goods and drinks. In 2018, we provided 872,528 pounds of nutritional food to 20,045 individuals, representing 7,251 needy families. This year we have given away 541,464 pounds of food and non-food items from January through August serving 12,482 individuals. Additionally, we have a Mobile Food Pantry program where we give away additional free food to senior citizens coming from any community, which in turn stretches their monthly dollars. We serve an average of over 225 seniors each month through this program. Due to the growing needs in our Paulding County community, additional assistance is still needed to combat hunger in our community.  Your generous contribution could expand the reach of our mission to make hunger elimination a reality.

Helping Hands has recognized that many people have needs that go beyond food insecurity and hunger.  To meet the needs of those in need in Paulding County, we provide clothing, assist clients in obtaining social services, store vouchers, education assistance, and emergency financial support.  Last year we gave away 38,357 pieces of clothing to 5,685 of our neighbors in need. This year we have given 3,356 people over 21,776 items of clothing from January through August.  Our compassionate case managers assist clients with obtaining food stamps and Medicaid. We also provide thrift store vouchers as well as GED scholarships and limited financial assistance on an emergency basis. An example of this type of assistance would be payment of a utility bill to keep a family safe by ensuring the electric, gas or water stays on.

This is all accomplished through daily operations of our facilities, mostly operated by a volunteer staff. 99% of our human resources is volunteer-driven. You can also view additional information about our Helping Hands’ mission, services, events, supporters and partnerships on our website at www.hhpcga.org.

Any financial gift you give will be used to eliminate hunger and meet the specific community needs as mentioned above. With your generous contribution, we will continue to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in our community by purchasing food and funding our operation to cloth, assist and meet the emergency needs of our community.

We estimate that we can provide four  meals for every dollar we earn, with food purchased from the Atlanta Community Food Bank for 16 to 18 cents on a dollar.  For example, a generous donation of $1000 would allow us to purchase over 20,000+ pounds of food for those suffering from food insecurity.

We hope that you will find it in your interest and budget to support our operational program. It is only by the generosity of partners such as you, who help us continue our mission. Again, we are grateful to accept any gift you are willing to provide.

If I can provide any additional information to encourage consideration of our request, please feel free to contact me at 770-443-1230 or email me at helpinghandsofpc@gmail.com.  Thank you!

Blessing!
