Give Back Africa Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) community-focused not-for-profit charitable organization based in North Carolina, USA.

Our Mission:

To provide children in underprivileged communities in Africa with the necessary resources to help them advance their academic achievements and realize their personal potential.

Our primary goals are

• To provide educational facilities and materials (libraries, books, computers) to communities and schools in under-served areas

• To promote healthy lifestyle among African children by providing villages with community playgrounds for kids

Our Roots

Every board member of our organization has a personal story that drives our mission.

My name is Kwabena Amponsah-Manager. I am one of the founders of the organization. I grew up in rural area in Ghana.

What I remember sadly is that during my primary school days, my family and I lived in a village about 15 miles from a city called Techiman in Ghana. The nearest school to our village was 4 miles away.  I walked to school every day, that’s 8 miles a day, sometimes through the rain. Today, I consider myself blessed that I was able to come out from such a situation to be where I am with a PhD in Chemistry. I go home often and I see kids still going through similar problems that existed during those days when I was a kid. Some kids do not have to walk 8 miles to school like I did; others have to, but the majority face diverse challenges.

Only few children will have their stories end the way my ended. To many of them, the future doesn’t hold much hope, but we can turn the situation around.

We founded Give Back Africa Foundation to work with the communities to ensure a brighter future for every kid through access to basic educational needs.

We cannot solve all the problems in Africa but with one child at a time, one family at a time and one community at a time, we can make a difference. We believe education should be the foundation of any poverty reduction effort.

Earlier this year, we provided over 2000 reading and maths books, six (6) computers and monitors, 4 printers, diverse electronic learning aids and backpacks to schools in two Asueyi and Piase (both in Ghana). Note that the organization has been in existence only since June of 2011.

Later this year to early 2013, we plan adopt and support a few more rural schools and reinforce our support to the schools we visited last years.

I personally commit to donate my vacation to go to Ghana and teach for one month. The visit will allow me to help some of the local teachers with setting up their computer labs and with some IT resources that can help them make better use of the materials we give to them.

Your generous donation will help us buy some refurbished computers, a projector for teaching basic science, some backpacks and pay for shipping and traveling expenses.

It is you, the partner, who makes the difference. I will only represent you to fulfill your personal mission.
