Building a Better Future for Oliver and His Sons

In our two decades of service, Gifts In Kind International has witnessed millions of inspirational stories in which people have been able to achieve remarkable success with a little help from us and our network of charities. Oliver is a good example of how one man can be equipped and empowered to impact the lives of thousands.

A single father raising four children, Oliver has two sons who are chronically ill. As the sole caregiver, he was unemployed and lacked the basic resources to get and hold a job. But, when he joined HSC Health Services Male Caregivers Support Group, he was thrilled to receive a computer from HSC, one of Gifts In Kind’s Washington, D.C. charities. Oliver also received shirts and ties from our product donation program to better equip him for job interviews.

Using his computer, Oliver researched available resources for caregiver fathers in the Nation’s Capitol. After compiling his findings, he voluntarily built a resource website for the Male Caregivers. Weeks later, HSC offered him a part-time job maintaining the resource website he had designed. Today, Oliver is not only gainfully employed, but he has empowered himself to care for his children and empowered thousands of other single fathers to succeed for their families.
