FRIENDS OF STARLING HALL

Starling Hall was Fayette's historic Grange, built in the 1870's, to serve and support the local agricultural community.  Social events, suppers, dances, graduations, musical recitals, theatrical productions, and much more, took place at the Hall for 135 years. In 2016 the Hall was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

"Friends" is an association of concerned citizens working hard to save Starling Hall and return it to its role as a true community center.  The Hall has fallen into disrepair due to a lack of funds and neglect.  Through local fund raising activities, generous donations and grants, we have raised the funds needed to move the Hall back from the road and place it on a new foundation with a full basement.  But much more needs to be done!  The building's structural integrity must be restored and all building systems must be upgraded to meet current safety and use requirements.  Interior improvements and a new bathroom and a community “warming” kitchen will be added. Work on the building exterior, including painting, clapboard replacement and roof repair are critical.

AS OF MID JANUARY 2018,  WE’VE MOVED THE HALL BACK FROM THE ROAD AND PUT A FULL FOUNDATION UNDER IT!  WE ARE ON OUR WAY BUT NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Can you help us restore Starling Hall so it can once again become the community center that binds us all together?

OUR MOST IMPORTANT FIRST PRIORITIES (so we can begin to occupy and use the Hall)

PHASE #2

1) Rebuild the historical front entrance and add a new door and step to the alternate entrance (so the building will be secure).

2)  Drill a new well so we  will have potable water.

3)  Reattach the electrical service and install new wiring as needed.

4)   Upgrade  the  bathroom.
