Friends of Beechwood Park

Beechwood Park is a "pocket park" in the Highlands that came about when neighbors and friends on Beechwood Ave. decided to work on an abandoned lot and turn it into a green space where the community could gather and enjoy nature and each other's company.

The project started several years ago with the removal of invasive plants, trash and debris and the planting of understory trees and further site cleanup. Since then, with the help of local businesses, public officials, and community donations, the park has added an outdoor classroom, several nice benches, a nature play area, a beautiful pollinator garden and an entrance with a sign and limestone stairs, as well as an ADA accessible ramp.

Still, future planning is in the works to install electricity in the park to be used for more events that are free and open to the public, as well as commissioning a local artist to help beautify the park by painting a mural on the concrete walls.

This pocket park is free and open to the public but is not a Metro park, therefore we need donations to continue its development and maintain the work we've already accomplished.
