Enriching the lives of those with autism through opportunity and understanding.

The Flying Point Foundation for Autism, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to creating and supporting programs and services that enrich the lives of those with autism. Recognizing the limited opportunities for organized activities geared toward individuals with autism, the Foundation’s main focus is to provide programs that meet this need on the East End. Through our efforts, we will also raise public awareness and understanding of autism, especially among the peers of children who have been diagnosed with the disorder.

Founded in 2008, the FPF started with a short-term goal of starting a one-week summer day camp for children with autism, along with their typically developing siblings and peers. That goal was attained in August 2010 and in 2011 the camp session was extended to eight days with expanded enrollment. In the ensuing years, additional programs have been added, including recreational and social events, awareness seminars, scholarships and teacher grants for a graduating senior with autism going to college or vocational school and for a typical student who has shown a commitment to the autism community through volunteerism.

Last fall, the FPF opened The Point, a gathering place for adults with autism that offers social opportunities, fitness programs and more.
