A nonprofit organization

127 donors

El Progreso Memorial Library is one of the oldest non-profit libraries in the State of Texas, founded in 1903. El Progreso was founded by a women's civic organization, El Progreso Club, to enrich the lives of the citizens of Uvalde, Texas and the surrounding area. These women were visionaries and created the first library in Texas west of San Antonio. Because it is not a department of a government, the library is funded through the donations of the South Texas communities it serves. El Progreso Library provides education, accesibility, and most of all community to the people of South Texas!

El Progreso Library's West Main facility houses a library, as well as a museum and archives which preserves the history of a 10 county region of South Texas.
