Community Health Awareness Council

Founded in 1973, The Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) is a nonprofit mental health services agency located in Mountain View, California. CHAC exists under a Joint Powers Agreement, and includes the local governments of Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills as well as the Mountain View Whisman School District, the Los Altos School District, and the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District.

CHAC is a premier non-profit mental health and training agency serving over 15,000 youth and families in Silicon Valley each year. At CHAC there are over 80 of the top interns from masters and PhD programs, providing counseling services in 34 public schools in the area.  Our programs address a variety of emotional problems affecting children, teens, adults and families. Many programs are designed to protect young people from high–risk behaviors such as alcohol or illicit drug abuse, violence, and premature sexual activity, while building personal assets such as school success, valuing diversity, maintaining good health, and the ability to delay gratification; all of which will help insure that they have the greatest chance for success in life.
