CAT began as just the tiny seed of an idea that founder and Artistic Director, Cyndi Monroe, had over 15 years ago.  She wanted to create an after school Theater arts program for children because most arts funding in the public schools had ended.  She had the passion and the vision and she surrounded herself with people who shared that vision but were extraordinarily skilled in all aspectts of the arts.  CAT was launched in the fall of 1999. Since then 1,000's of children have participated in the program.   Recently Cyndi received the following email from a theater colleague  at Riverside Community College.  He was referencing a mutual acquaintance and he also mentioned another CAT student by name that we changed to a generic “CAT student” for their privacy sake:

“I know CAT has done wonders for his daughter, and her confidence, as it has done for so many.  Can you imagine, for example, how (CAT Student) ’s  life might have gone without you and your wonderful circle in it?   And how wonderful she has become?  You all have my undying love and respect….you are a force for good that awakens the best in others.”  Chuck Abernathy, Riverside Community College

Here is another Testimonial:

Hi there! I cannot begin to tell you how many people have just LOVED the shows our girls have been in with CAT!!  Artistically, they are fantastic but even better is the relatiosnships developed among the kids, the parents and the families!  THANK YOU for all that you do for our children.   One particular show night  brought out all of Madi and Claire's best friends from girl scouts and their families, as well as my extended family.  After the show, we waited and WAITED for Madi to come out.  Finally, she did and I asked where she had been.  She replied "with my family".  Brad and I looked at each other and she added "Mom, my CAT family is just as important as all of you".  I just wanted you to know how much CAT kids and parents have touched the life of her and her sister.  Madi and Claire are always so happy to be a part of anything CAT can offer!  THANK YOU for giving so much to the community.
Gratefully, Brad & Linda Pettijohn

CAT truly is making a difference in the lives of our students, their parents and the community at large.  Cyndi recently did some investigating into the percentage of CAT seniors who, upon graduating from High School and continuing on to college, received scholarships for theater or music.  She was astonished to discover that the answer was 100%.  Every CAT kid who has applied for some sort of arts scholarship at their university or college of choice has received one.

Building kids up in the arts has tremendous side benefits and the learned skills stay with kids well into their adult years.  Won't you help CAT continue to fashion wonderful, respectful, creative, talented, confident children into the leaders of tomorrow?
