Brightpoint

A nonprofit organization

Children's Home & Aid is now Brightpoint!

Brightpoint child welfare services are geared to provide services, resources and people to walk alongside families as they navigate solutions to strengthen their families and prevent fixable challenges from becoming life-altering.  The goal is to maximize opportunities for children, parents and whole families to connect and discover different options to improve their circumstances.

Brightpoint supports thousands of children and families each year through our child welfare services. We are an agency that puts families at the center of every decision and believe that communities where we all work, play and live together can be strengthened through data-informed, collaborative and preventative solutions.

We believe we must transform the current child welfare system. We will replace what we currently think of as child welfare services with what we know to be child, family and community well-being solutions.

We believe the most important asset for child and youth wellbeing is the family. We will serve as an effective partner for families because we believe families understand what they need; our most important role is to listen and respond. Our solutions will include supports which are family centric and as diverse as our families to ensure we offer solutions to meet individualized needs.

Brightpoint provides intact family services, foster care services, and foster to adopt services to children and families. Learn more about each of these services by clicking links in left sidebar navigation.

  • Our intact family services work with families and caregivers who have been referred by Illinois’ Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) due to a report of abuse or neglect.  Brightpoint provides an all-encompassing range of home-based case management services. These services are designed to resolve these issues so that children and youth can remain safely at home. As an Intact Family Services provider, we are committed to keeping families together whenever it is safe to do so.
  • Our foster care services provide safe, secure and nurturing homes for children who have been separated from the care of their families of origin. When families are unable to care for their children, Brightpoint works to find suitable homes for them with foster parents who can provide the appropriate care based on the children’s individual needs. We understand all families are different, and we respect the unique values and diverse culture of each family system.
  • Our foster to adopt services are led by experienced Brightpoint adoption case workers who carefully match prospective parents with children based on the individual needs of the child and the parent’s capabilities.
