Bradley Angle opened the first domestic violence shelter on the West Coast in 1975. Our name honors two women who lost their lives to domestic violence; Sharon Bradley and Pam Angle.

Since that time, Bradley Angle has evolved into a multi-faceted organization providing a broad continuum of essential services to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Current programs and services include: emergency shelter, transitional housing, youth services, economic empowerment programs, and culturally specific programs for Black/African American and LGBTQ survivors.

These survivors are sadly over-represented yet find few resources that are designed to their needs. Mainstream agencies can sometimes retraumatize LGBTQ+ survivors who reach out to them for help and we routinely get referrals as our shelter remains one of the few that is welcoming to this community.

Black/African American survivors have to contend with expectations from the Black Church, that its women be strong, and a need to shield Black men from further negativity. Our staff understand these dynamics and deliver services in way that is both familiar and effective for survivors.

Our housing and economic empowerment programs address the financial barriers that cause survivors to return to their abusers. We help survivors access housing assistance, matched savings, educational scholarships, internships, credit building or repair programs, and job search resources.
