Kentucky has one of the HIGHEST obesity rates in the country. 

In 2024, 41% of Kentuckians are considered obese with a BMI of 30 or higher. 

In 2024, Kentucky children between the ages of 10-17 have the SECOND highest rates of childhood obesity in the country.

Who We Are

We are a group of physicians and health care providers who understand that Obesity is a serious disease with many great treatments that are not available to everyone.  There are many reasons that include:

Doctors and health care providers do not understand that diet and exercise alone do not work for most people with serious obesity.

Most insurance plans don't pay for any prevention or early intervention- diet counseling or exercise. 

Too many insurance programs do not offer any coverage for Obesity treatments (because they are very expensive) but do cover the many complications that Obesity causes-Diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, arthritis and many more. 

There are actually laws that block Medicare and Medicaid from paying for certain treatments.

We want to educate doctors and lawmakers to ultimately make treatment more available for all who need them.
