Beverley Hills Church Preschool

Founded in 1939 by Rev. Bill Basom, Beverley Hills Church Preschool values the growth and development of its children, families and educational staff. As a cooperative preschool BHCP works to foster a community that benefits all. Children are provided a unique preschool experience in which the staff – in collaboration with their parents – is dedicated to guiding them towards achieving their fullest potential socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally.

For over 75 years, Beverley Hills Church Preschool has embodied the ideals of community, collaboration, and a child-centered educational philosophy.

Over the past two years, we have created the first all natural playspace in Alexandria. The playground is used every day by the students of the school and the children of the surrounding communities. We will continue our tradition of community outreach and educational excellence while taking full advantage of nature as a tool to nurture our children: physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

Last year, in honor of our 75th anniversary, we established a Playground Maintenance Endowment Fund so that we can continue to inspire all who visit our beautiful outdoor space. We are asking donors to help support the on-going maintenance needs of BHCP's beautiful community playground, for the purchase of a large shade tree for the children.

Outdoor play is a critical part of childhood, and there has been a growing tide of research about the many benefits to children's development offered by spending time outside in the natural environment. Thank you for supporting BHCP's natural playspace, so that our community can continue to provide children with a magical space to enjoy the natural world.
