$2,500 Goal

The Avondale Elementary School (AES) Foundation is raising funds for AES teachers and staff for needed supplies, professional development, and/or virtual readiness due to COVID.

These donations will be distributed as individualized grants to staff, and we need your help to make this happen, so please consider donating today!

Over the past five years, the AES Foundation has connected community members and local businesses with AES so everyone in the community can work together to facilitate growth and educational opportunities for AES students. The Foundation's mission is to develop resources that remove barriers and create opportunities for student achievement, and its vision is to ensure that every child at AES has the resources to thrive. Funds previously raised by the Foundation have supported AES with a new state-of-the-art playground via a KaBoom grant, a new sound system for the AES cafeteria, a new exterior mural on the school, recent updates to the AES Media Center, including new carpet and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) equipment, nature-based field trips for AES students, and professional development for AES teachers and staff, among much more. The Foundation recently secured funding for an outdoor classroom (which we plan to begin soon!) via a Waffle House Foundation grant and other valued donations from the community, including last year's Giving Tuesday campaign!

Your donations will directly support AES teachers and staff with needed resources so they can continue to enrich and make an impact in the lives of AES students during this unique time.

About AES:

Sitting in the heart of Avondale Estates, GA, AES attracts students from a large, diverse attendance zone extending throughout Avondale Estates and beyond. It is a Title I school serving approximately 400 students from Pre-K through 5th Grade. Established in 1923, AES is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the Dekalb County School System, and provides a positive, creative energy in its classrooms, and innovation and dedication from its teachers. AES provides students with a global education through its International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, which connects students to real-world experiences and inquiry-based learning, while meeting the needs of the whole student. As part of the IB model, all students receive Spanish language instruction. Additionally, AES is in the process of acquiring STEM certification, which emphasizes science, technology, engineering, and math. AES is evaluated by the Georgia Department of Education’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), which measures content mastery, readiness, progress, and closing of learning gaps. In just the last three years, AES’s CCRPI score has leaped from 59 to 73, on a scale of 100. Over the past five years, AES’s school leaders have worked extensively with surrounding community partners to rally around the school, support AES students on their academic journeys, and continue to transform AES into a warm learning environment worthy of 21st Century students.
